Looking at how to capture Postal and Physical Address details and the importance of standardising.

Firstly, the Street and Postal addresses need to be captured seperately. Logos Flow uses the following approach:

• Street Address: the complete address is captured in one field and seperated by a line.
  
• Postal Address: if the Postal is the same as the Street Address then it is repeated. However, the important difference is the Area, City, Country and Postal Code are captured in seperate fields.
  
  • Area: used to capture the area / suburb.
    
  • City : used to capture the city / town.
    
  • Postal Code: very important to capture, not only for sending mail but looking up information.
    
  • Province / State: although not used in the Address it is important to capture this as it can be used for finding all addresses / contacts in a specific province.
    
  • Country : used to capture the country.
    

Please note that information captured is not only used to send mail or courier parcels - it is used to find information. There are many ways it is useful such as getting a list of everyone from a particular area, city, province or country. Also for:

• bulk messaging
  
• placing as a resource on a website - whether a public resource or via secure access
  
• placing as a resource on an intranet - very useful within a business or organisation
  
• marketing purposes
